Tuna Fish Pinwheels

Recipe from Grandma Giedt

  • 4 Tablespoons Butter
  • 1 Whole Small Onion, Chopped
  • 1/3 Cup Celery, Chopped
  • 4 Tablespoons Flour
  • 7 Ounces Can of Tuna
  • 1/3 Cup Mushroom Soup
  • 2 Cups Flour
  • 3 Teaspoons Baking Powder
  • 1 Teaspoon Salt
  • 1/4 Cup Shortening
  • 3/4 Cup Milk

  1. Place butter, onion, and celery in skillet. Cook until vegetables are soft.
  2. Add flour, blend. Stir in tuna and mushroom soup. Cool.
  3. Mix flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in shortening. Add milk. Knead gently for 30 seconds.
  4. Roll out. Add filling and then roll up like a jelly roll. Seal then slice in 1 inch slices.
  5. Bake until dough is done.

Can be served with mushroom soup and milk mixed together on top. If you let the pinwheels sit before baking the dough will get a bit firmer.
